Kusanagi, Motoko

Kusanagi, Motoko and most of the time "The Major", is a part time worker at Public Security Section 9. She formed her team with the understanding that she is able to go Rogue as often as needed. Initially she was completely Independent from Public Security Section 9. She was nearly killed in a plane crash along with a young boy that would eventually become Kuze, Hideo. Being unable to wake up, her organs were harvested without her permission (She would not give permission for such a thing any ways.) and has to spend time inside various prosthetic bodies. When she grew up, she had to get a new body each year. As Hideo was still able to use his left hand, he made a wish with 1,000 Origami in order to see his sister again. When she arrived again, she claimed she remembers him without explaining how. When he said that prosthetic bodies are unsophisticated, she did not return until she mastered the art of folding Origami with her left hand in order to convince him. This determination finally compelled him to switch bodies, eventually adopting the Statuesque body that he had during most of his episodes. You can occasionally encounter The Major coping with her new body, not unlike Star Trek's Master Chief Petty Officer Annika Hansen, or just "Seven". The Major evolved from being unable to handle her favourite doll to making Origami with her left hand. In the first opening segment, she tackles her fears head on noticing The Tachikomas losing in battle. Later, she encounters several Spoiled Thugs that sell Harvested Organs which she did not hesitate to act as a Mobster in order to stop them. After that, she adopts Chay; Both of them happened to be looking for Hideo. She is sympathetic to people with Stand Alone Complexes, and her life was saved by Aoi. However, The Major thought lowly of The Tachikomas until her cybernetic connection to Hideo, which caused her to be much more philosophical. The Major's affiliation with Section 9 results in a new life of unlimited maintenance and use of equipment, and all the travel expenses she needed. Particularly, she was able to give Chay protected shelter such a Penthouse Suite to keep him out of danger as well as being able to bring a Tachikoma home with her. Several years later, she finally gets the dream budget for Section 9 approved by The Prime Minister.
