Mary Foster

Mary Foster, editor at The Gazette, doesn't suffer fools or take prisoners. And she has zero tolerance for whiners. She pulled herself up by the bootstraps and expects her writers to be just as tough.

Mary was born to wealth in England but after an unwanted teen pregnancy she fled her family's rigid traditions to fend for herself in London. Soon after, Mary went off to Canada to study journalism and earn her keep as a reporter.

Turns out she was good at it, and she rose quickly through the ranks to become Editor. She's tough, smart and she's been around the block a few times, covering the world's most influential personalities in politics and sports, then crime. It was a relatively easy walk to the editor's desk.

Mary isn't ashamed to be a Cougar; after all, she gets lonely at times. She has no desire to marry. There was that fling with Simon... She drinks a bit, and then makes up for it with body- crunching Pilates.

She sees herself in newbie keener Daisy and takes her under her wing.
