Tommy Mullaney, Sr. is the drunken, abusive, alcoholic father of his son Tommy Mullaney. He has arrived in Los Angeles, California from Boston, Massachusetts.
This morning, Roxanne opening the door while holding Daniel's baby daughter Lucy, she see Tommy Mullaney, Sr. sitting down while smoking with a cigarette with his belongings, he's just arrived at the law firm of McKenzie, Brackman, she meets him. Roxanne heard about Tommy Sr. son Tommy Jr. when he was a lawyer at the firm before, and he now works at the District Attorney's office now as the Assistant D.A. Tommy Sr. will be taken the taxi.
He has arrived to meet a long time son A.D.A. Tommy Mullaney, he is now working at the District Attorney's office, accompanied by Roxanne Melman. Tommy Jr. shaking hands and welcoming Tommy Sr. to Los Angeles, California.
Tommy Sr. ask his son Tommy that he got a smoke. But actually, Tommy quit. Tommy Sr. started about Tommy's mother in the past. Roxanne has no idea about that guy Tommy Sr. Even he doesn't know what he means. His father is not feel welcomed. Tommy had made his point. Tommy's alcoholic father Tommy Sr. is not staying with his son. He's going to rent a room at the hotel. He never said that his alcoholic father stay with his son. Not in so many words. Tommy's mother has just been a lot of pressure. It didn't matter, Tommy Sr. raise his son Tommy Jr. better. Tommy is mad. As a matter of fact, Tommy Sr. didn't.
His alcoholic father Tommy Sr. will fly home back to Boston tomorrow. Not a problem. But Roxanne begs Tommy Sr. don't go and leaving Los Angeles. Tommy Jr. warns Roxanne to stop. But Tommy Sr. call her sweet Miran. Tommy said her name is Roxanne. Tommy Sr. fooling. And Tommy Sr. take his luggage belongings and leave. Tommy is dealing with an alcoholic father.
Assistant D.A. Tommy Jr. has just arrived looking for his father.
Tommy Sr. is at the nightclub and the bar, he was sitting while watching the show. He was smoking. Tommy Jr. find Tommy Sr. They just talk. Tommy wants Tommy Sr. to come and get out of the nightclub. Tommy, Sr. ask where they going. To Disneyland.
The waitress will place an order of drinks. This is for Tommy Sr. who order a wild turkey. Nothing for Tommy Jr. He is not going to join Tommy Sr. Tommy Jr. quit smoking and drinking. If Tommy Sr. is not leaving, Tommy Jr. will see his alcoholic father back at the office. Tommy Sr. came to California to spend some quality time together with his son Tommy Jr. Almost about 30 years since 1963 until 1993. Tommy Sr. suddenly take an interest. He's always been there for Tommy Jr. And he'll never forget it. Whatever Tommy Sr. say. Tommy Sr. thought that his son Tommy Jr. did call his alcoholic father a liar. Here they go. Tommy Sr. wants his son Tommy Jr. to answer him. But his son refuses, he gets mad and Tommy Sr. want his son to answer him.
Years go by, Tommy Jr. pitching no ones catching. All of sudden, Tommy Sr. showed up and pretend that they related. He wants to find out what is this about. Tommy Sr. said nothing. Tommy Jr. want to know. Tommy Sr. said never mind. No, his alcoholic father tell his son. Tommy Sr. says, "I'm dying." Tommy Jr. is in shock why his frailed, alcoholic father wanted to die. Tommy Jr. should sit down with his father. He is blocking the view. Then they watched.
In the evening, here at the nightclub, Tommy Sr. is drunk, he drinks too much. Assistant D.A. Tommy Mullaney is back from court, he is waiting for his father to grab a bite to eat, and he's waiting for Roxanne at the lobby. Tommy takes a seat with Tommy Sr. And they're watching the show. They both talking. But suddenly, Roxanne comes for Tommy Jr. She suppose to wait for him. Tommy Sr. turned to Roxanne calling her Miran. Tommy Sr. knows about Tommy's little brother. Tommy wants Tommy Sr. that they should get out of the nightclub. The Maple Tree. Why would Tommy Jr. remembering it? They dredging up the past. But Roxanne wants to hear more about it. Tommy should stay for a few minutes. Roxanne must understand. He is making a speech. Tommy Jr. agrees, they were one big happy family. But Tommy Sr. abusively slapping his son Tommy Jr. in the face. Tommy Jr. gets up and leaves the show. Roxanne find out where is he going. Tommy Sr. is very mean and nasty.
Tommy Mullaney, Sr. is in the taxi and closed the door by his son Tommy Jr. The taxi takes his alcoholic father back at the hotel. Tommy Jr. walks in the car and sit down to talk with Roxanne, that his frailed, alcoholic father is dying. Tommy Jr. is sobbing.
Here at the District Attorney's office this morning, Tommy Jr. ask his alcoholic father Tommy Sr. decide what he's going to do in the afternoon. Tommy Sr. doesn't care.
He is getting a drink of water at the water fountain. The water here taste like spit. Tommy Jr. is the one who was to play father and son. Tommy Sr. have flew all the way from Boston. Take a good look at Tommy Jr. Tomorrow for Tommy Sr. back to Boston. That's fine. His Tommy Jr. always thinking. Trouble is Tommy Jr. thinks to much.
But suddenly, Tommy Mullaney turned that his alcoholic father is having a heart attack. Tommy Sr. feel like he's been shock. Tommy Jr. will drive his alcoholic father to the hospital. Tommy Sr. can't. Tommy Jr. will call the ambulance and head to the phone, he'll be right back. Tommy Jr. cannot leave his alcoholic father alone on the floor. Tommy Jr. reach the phone and ask the janitor while he's mopping, he'll get Tommy Jr. an ambulance and he should hurry call 911 emergency. Tommy Jr. will hold on tight with his father.
Here at the Los Angeles hospital, Tommy Mullaney Jr. have arrived and see how his father Tommy Sr. been so far. He ask how Tommy Sr. feeling. He felt better. Tommy Jr. should get Tommy Sr. clothes. Dr. Horowitz says Tommy Sr. gotta lay low. If Tommy Sr. passed out once. He passed out a thousand time is no big deal. Tommy Sr. should relax, he's in for a while. Tommy Jr. should give him a smoke. Tommy Jr. is not allowed. Tommy Jr. should give him a drink. Tommy Jr. is not allowed either. Then Tommy Jr. should give Tommy Sr. Tommy Jr. says no more gimmes. Tommy Sr. should get some sleep. Yeah. Tommy Sr. as an alcoholic father is tired. Tommy Jr as a son will be sitting here when Tommy Sr. wakes up.
Tommy Jr. was falling asleep in his chair. But suddenly, he wakes up that Tommy Sr. talking with Peter Jablow as a nurse man. Tommy Jr. ask. Why don't Tommy Jr. takeover, his father Tommy Sr. the alcoholic father can be kind of difficult? Not a problem. Peter Jablow got a dozen more just like a patient Tommy Sr. at the hospital bed. Waiting.
Tommy Sr. ask what kind of place is this. Tommy Jr. wake up. And some homo. Has got his arm around him. Tommy Jr. take care of Tommy Sr. But he needs to relax. Nobody had a chance to clean him up. That's all Tommy Sr. needs a bath. Tommy Sr. needs a drink. Tommy Jr. says enough with that. Tommy will help his alcoholic father to lean forward while Tommy Jr. give him a bath. Hospitals. Doctors tell him to rest. Step by step there prodding and poking. Tommy Sr. will get tired and complaining. Tommy Jr. giving a wet towel to his father, but he should take it easy. That water is cold. Tommy Sr. knows, he always bitched about the cold. Tommy give him something to dry him up with a dry towel.
Tommy ask his father, to tell him. How come they lived in Boston. Tommy Sr. doesn't know what his son Tommy Jr. mean how come they always lived in Boston. That's where Tommy Sr. family was. He had no choice. Not do Tommy. Every step of the way, Tommy Jr. did exactly as he please. He did not ask for a lecture. Tommy Sr. trying to get it in Tommy's head. He'll never be left alone. Tommy Jr. will be more understandable. Tommy haven't told his alcoholic father, he has been... he has announced Tommy Jr. and Roxanne, they're having a baby. And Tommy Sr. is gonna be a grandpa. They hugged each other and bless them.
Back at the hospital, Tommy Jr. brought some magazines for Tommy Sr. to read. Appreciated. But suddenly, he was holding the cup in his hand. He was drunk. Where'd Tommy Mullaney, Sr. get that booze. That elderly. Tommy Jr. wouldn't feel so bad. He takes a seat besides Tommy Sr. in bed. He tell his father, he'll be a father or he'll just knocked wear up. He planning. He was very planned. He were mistake. Tommy's brother, too. Tommy Sr. told him. Tommy Sr. never wanted to be a father, but Tommy's mother all just love kids and if she knew that Tommy is going to have one. This will be the happiest day on earth.
But suddenly, the alcoholic father Tommy Sr. ask his son to get himself a cup and drink with him. Tommy doesn't drink anymore. Tommy Sr. says that this isn't anymore. That this is special. They toast Tommy's baby. Tommy is too shy, he is not gonna have a drink. All Tommy Sr. saying. Tommy begs to try and respect his... listen. Tommy Sr. forcing his son Tommy to get himself a cup. Tommy Sr. ask what's the harm. Tommy Jr. is not drinking with his alcoholic father. He refuses. Tommy says this is a request. Doesn't Tommy Jr. know that Tommy Sr. is dying. Tommy Jr. confronting and coping with his alcoholic father Tommy Sr. After 7 years of being sobbing, does Tommy Sr. want his son Tommy to fall off the wagon out of pity? What pity. Tommy Sr. trying to celebrate. Tommy Sr. trying to screw his son Tommy Jr. up one last time and he won't let him.
Tommy Sr. had enough. He says get out. Look, Tommy will talk and explain the problems. Tommy Sr. is being nice and his son Tommy Jr. is spitting on his alcoholic father Tommy Sr. He wants his son out. But Tommy begs his alcoholic father. Tommy Sr. is angry and yelling his son to get the hell outta here. Tommy Jr. turned and walk away to cool off for fighting. Tommy Sr. takes out the hiding bottle of liquor underneath his blanket, twisting, open the cap and pours a drink in his cup. Tommy Sr. drinks by himself. Without his son Tommy Jr., he is not drinking with his alcoholic father. That's before he died of cardiac arrest.
Back at the hospital, Tommy Mullaney, Jr. walk back and checked, that his alcoholic father Tommy Sr. is gone. He is no where to be seen in the hospital. No wonder Tommy Jr. was having an argument.
But suddenly, Dr. John Michael Horowitz got a report in the bad news. The staff from the hospital tried to call Tommy Jr. as soon as Tommy Mullaney, Sr. went into cardiac arrest. Dr. Horowitz needs Tommy Mullaney to come downstairs and sign Tommy Sr. paperwork. Tommy Jr. will be out later. Sure. Tommy Jr. will stay for a while. Dr. Horowitz apologize to Mr. Mullaney. Tommy Jr. will maintain a vigil of his late father Tommy Mullaney, Sr. at the bedside. Tommy Jr. sits down any minute.
Roxanne Melman have just arrived at the nightclub and the bar again, she found that Assistant D.A. Tommy Mullaney sitting. She is so surprise to find him there. Full of surprises today. Roxanne wants to find out, how's his father Tommy Mullaney Sr. Dead. Tommy Jr. and Tommy Sr. were having a fight, Tommy Jr. walked out to cool off. Next thing, Tommy Jr. knows, he get the phone call, Tommy Sr. dies of a heart attack. Roxanne apologize to Tommy Jr.
