Lord Topper

Topper, like Prince George, and Enoch Mossop, is dressed in Regency era clothes except for the odd necklace that each have. This item is an imitation Rajneesh mala. Rajneesh was a famous Indian guru of the late 70s to early 90s,and his devotees wore this item as well as orange, saffron, or maroon clothing. Topper receives his name as a parody of 'Taper' , the pseudonym used by the renowned British journalist Bernard Levin, who was the only journalist of the era to visit the Rajneesh ashram in Pune , India, and to write favorably about it. Topper assumes the identity of the fictional 'Scarlet Pimpernel', again a parody of the 'Orange People' which was the label the English speaking press gave to the devotees of the guru Rajneesh. The episode 'Nob & Nobility' can only be properly interpreted if the terms 'Frenchie' is replaced by 'Rajneeshee', 'Scarlet' with 'Orange', 'Paris' with 'Pune', and 'Topper' with 'Taper', amongst others. Topper also assumes the moniker Comte de Frou Frou which is also a parody of the devotees of Rajneesh names given in initiation such as Swami Anand Vimalkirti, formerly Prince Welf Ernst von Hanover, the cousin of the current Prince of Wales,
