An unknown driver, the Kind Man has been eleven years sober and sympathizes with hitchhikers who appear hungover. He makes the mistake of picking up Mad Sweeney, and soon falls afoul of the leprechaun's run of bad luck after a pipe flies off of a truck up ahead of his car, goes through the windshield, and kills the Kind Man when it goes through his mouth and out the back of his skull.
