A silver-tongue Irish rebel and a member of the Feman brotherhood, Gavin comes to the U.S. to raise money to buy arms so that the Brotherhood can attack Canada, and then trade it to England for Ireland's freedom.
Gavin runs afoul of Paladin after the State Department sends Paladin to stop Gavin. Paladin tries to convince Gavin that he will never succeed but fails. One of the Mahoney brothers, sworn to Gavin's cause, is arrested robbing money from a bank. The other brother, Michael, begs Gavin to return the money so that Danny won't hang. Gavin refuses and flees. Paladin pursues him and in the ensuing gunfight, ends up killing Gavin... who die with the words "Ireland forever" on his lips.
