Cole Cooper is a former US Army Ranger sniper credited with having received two 'medals of valour' (the decorations received are not specified). He went off the rails after his long-term girlfriend Emily Wagner died of cancer, and begins a shooting spree targeting 1) the lawyer's office used by his landlord to evict him after he stopped paying the rent, 2) the apartment building where he formerly lived, and 3) a church - as he believed God had failed him by letting Emily die.He is shot by the FBI at the church.
