Kodie Chartrand

Kodie is a mother of two—a 12-year-old girl named Madison and a 4-year-old girl named True. Her name means "Prairie" in Ojibway. She was born in a northern community, but her life changed forever after she was removed from her home by child services when she was eight years old. She grew up in Millwood and in middle school she became best friends with young Joanna Hanley. They were competitive in school, both over-achievers, but from very different worlds. When they were twelve years old, they shared an experience they've never talked about that changed them both forever. In high school, after struggling for years, Kodie succumbed to the pressures of generational trauma and began to lose the battle with addiction. She lost a decade to drugs and alcohol. But eventually she fought back and got sober. Now clean and back in Millwood, she's turned her life around and is ready to be the parent she never had.
