Lieutenant Connie Murphy of the Chicago PD uses Harry Dresden as a consultant on cases of the weird and unexplained. She is happily divorced with a daughter named Anna, and she is estranged from her police officer father.
Harry isn't allowed to tell Murphy anything about the magical world, so she gets frustrated with Harry's lies and other subterfuges that keep her in the dark about how he, Harry, knows things and who some of the more fantastical criminals are in the city.
