From the book "Moscow Criminal" Bolt, Tolya and Kolya learn about Vitya's gangster past. Bolt decides to involve Vitya in stealing money from the mayor. Vitya refuses, says he's done.
But Vitya is faced with the need to pay Stepan Ilyich's debt for utilities. After unsuccessful attempts to earn honestly, Vitya agrees to Bolt's offer.
