Civilizations turns our 'water lens' on human history. With primatologist Professor Richard Wrangham, the wildlife camera team head deep into Africa's Congo rainforest in search of wading-behavior in bonobos (a chimpanzee-like great ape) – providing a new theory on the evolution of bipedalism in humans. Starting in Ancient Egypt, it charts the critical role water plays in history, and around the world, we see the birth of civilizations on the banks of the great rivers: the Nile, Tigris and Euphrates, Indus, and Yellow. We end by asking if we can guarantee water supplies of the future?
