During a speech on the radio, the president of the charitable foundation Nikolai Kupriyanov learns about the abduction of his mother Galina and daughter Tamara. After consulting with his brother, he decides to pay the ransom. True, Nikolai also does not refuse to contact the police. The investigation is suspicious of the criminals' detailed awareness of the fund's financial situation and the schedule of meetings of its employees. Loginov and Petrovskaya come to the conclusion that the organizer of the abduction is closely connected with someone from the Kupriyanov family.
