To pay off his debt, teenager Denji starts hunting devils for the Yakuza with his buddy Pochita, a "Chainsaw Devil". Just when things seem like they couldn't get any worse, Denji is betrayed by the Yakuza.

I got into anime in the late 80's and heavily in the 90's. With Ninja Scrolls, Crying Freeman, Robot Carnival, Vampire Hunter D, Ghost in the Machine, Bubblegum Crisis, Cowboy Beebop and even Battle Angel and so many more. Most of the anime that grabbed me lacked characters with Margaret Keane style "Big Eyed" characters and protagonists. The first wave of anime that came to the USA was the actual, adult oriented anime. Then the kiddie stuff followed and was a hit with kiddies and of course America glommed onto that as "anime". because America has long thought of animation as "for kids". Only with the Simpsons and later South park that America realized, hey! Animation can be for adults too!
This, Chainsaw Man? Follows in that tradition of adult story telling and stories for adults animated. If you are a true anime fan you will like this. I love it.
