Reverend Pat Allerton visits three iconic cathedrals in the north of England. In Durham he learns how the Cathedral was built by the Normans just after the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and discovers the fascinating story behind the 900-year-old North Door, which played a fascinating role for criminals seeking sanctuary. In Coventry he learns of the suffering of the cathedral during WWII and the devastating raid on 14th November 1940 which destroyed the 1000-year-old medieval building. Finally, Pat travels to Lincoln which for over 200 years was the tallest building in the entire world, until its spire collapsed in 1549.
