Civilizations are said to have risen and fallen throughout Remnant's history with four remaining: Atlas, Mistral, Vacuo, and Vale. The narrator describes the governing structures of these kingdoms, notes the existence of scattered communities outside the kingdoms, and details the nature of their military forces, including the huntsmen academies. At the end the narrator states the kingdoms serve as a haven from the darkness, so long as they remain united.
