Piper realises she has to tell Tyler the truth about what her parents really said regarding their relationship and when she does, Tyler is hurt and disappointed. Deciding the best course of action is to be honest, Tyler approaches Brad and admits Piper lied to him and that he never wanted to be in this position as he respects Brad and Terese too much.
