Please use primary sources for news items (i.e. press releases) instead of posting outside links. There are several reasons why this is so important.
- As an information source, we need to be that source. We want people linking to us, not the other way around.
- The internet is ephemeral. Information on that third-party site may not always be there, and then we are left with dead links and no information.
- We shouldn't be sending our users to someone else's site for information.
For most of the news we report, a press release is likely out there. Please use that instead. Copy the information from the release and post that. Yes, it will take more time, but in the end, we will have better-curated information.
Check the press site for the network involved. If you can't find a press release, or if the site is country-locked, then ask someone for help. This isn't a race, we're all in it together. The goal is to provide the best information possible for our users.
