In this comedy-drama series, we are introduced to Braon Poitín. A curious but talented man, struggling to make his own way in the world, decides to bring his poitín business to the international market - whichever way he can.
Braon believes he will be able to save the world with this miracle liquid and pushes the patience of his family and community to the end of their tether as he embarks on his questionable business through dubious marketing ideas.
An Poitín is part of the Glúin Nua scheme. This scheme was created to support emerging directors, writers, and creative producers to create short-form content in the Irish language. Created by TG4 in partnership with the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI), Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund, Údarás na Gaeltachta and in association with Gréasán na Meán Skillnet.

Oisín Ó hEartáin (Director & Writer)
A writer, director and documentary filmmaker from Corca Dhuibhne, in West Kerry, the award-winning Galway based creative has spent 6 years making documentaries and is beginning to explore his drama roots through the medium of screen.
Denis Haugh (Writer)
Denis Haugh, from Mayo, is a writer, actor, and theatre maker. He studied writing for the stage while pursuing Drama, Theatre & Performance at the University of Galway, and he earned a certificate in TV Drama Writing at IADT under Eilish Kent (RTÉ, BBC). Additionally, Denis has worked with writers as a director in Ireland and New York, bringing plays to life on the big stage. One of his own scripts was also optioned in New York.
Caoimhghín Ó hEodhasa (Braon Poitín – Príomh Carachtair)
Caoimhghín Ó hEodhasa is an actor, creator, and language enthusiast. With stage experience in plays such as "Wáltsáil Abhaile" (An Taibhdhearc, 2023) and "Ar An Dé Deiridh" (Gliogar, 2024), as well as on screen in the short film "Normáilte" (Irish Queer Archives, 2024), you'll enjoy his first leading role in the Irish-language mockumentary series "An Poitín," alongside Oisín Ó hEartáin and Dennis Haugh.
Evanne Kilgallon (Méabh Ní Chinnéide)
An actress, playwright and performer from Kilkenny, Evanne is at the forefront of the Irish theatre scene as well as recently filming a lead role in Chris O’Dowds new Sky TV show “Small Town, Big Story,”.
Ciara Cox (Ríona Nic Phiarais)
Hailing from Conamara, Ciara Cox, an emerging young actor, began her career with a bang leading the Irish language series ‘Saol Ella’ and has since obtained lead roles in short films as she completes her Leaving Certificate.
Tara Breathnach (Fiona Uí Phiarais)
Known for Jack Taylor (2010), A Nightingale Falling (2014) and Detainment (2018), Tara Breathnach is an IFTA nominated actor, based in Galway, with a plethora of experience in Irish and English language productions.
Danny McCafferty (Seán Mac Piarais)
A writer, actor and director, Danny hails from Donegal and recently had his debut feature film The Line, officially selected at the Kerry International Film Festival as well as many other film festivals.
