Virgin Media Television’s hit series Help Me Buy A Home returns on Sunday at 8pm on Virgin Media Play and Virgin Media One.
The series aims to arm viewers with the insight they need to successfully navigate Ireland’s increasingly difficult housing market.
At the helm, Ireland’s expert buyer’s agent Liz O’Kane will lend her experience to overwhelmed and frustrated house-hunters from across the country.
Liz is on the side of the buyer, her mission is to get people out of endless viewings, and drive them toward that elusive goal of home-ownership. She will provide invaluable guidance and insider tips. By testing boundaries to shake out where compromises really fall, Liz will help people to see what they can (and can’t) achieve. Should a property come into play, it will be up to Liz to handle the nerve-wracking bidding, and secure that dream.
And she’s got backup with I’m Grand Mam’s PJ and Kevin.
PJ Kirby, a newlywed looking to feather his first nest, and London-based Kevin Twomey, looking for a way home, are part of Generation Lock-out. They are on their own quest to demystify the market by asking the burning questions to industry experts, and tracking down innovative solutions to the goal of owning their own gaff.
In episode one, Liz has two projects. First up are Aisling and Cian. Entrepreneur, Aisling, and her partner, Cian are first time-buyers who have been on the hunt for two years while living at her parents’ house. They are keen for a place to themselves, but reluctant to leave their neighbourhood. Can Liz convince them to spread their wings beyond their beloved Palmerstown?
The second is single-mum, artist and DJ Sarah, who has been out-bid several times. Desperate to get into a forever home with her four-year-old daughter, Sarah asks Liz to work with a tight budget in the highly sought-after neighbourhood of Dublin 12.
Meanwhile Kevin and PJ attempt to get to the bottom of how to get a mortgage. They meet mortgage advisor Margaret Barrett who gives them the lowdown on whether being a “freelance creative” is a blocker to making their home owning dreams come true.
