Today, Emmy® Award-winning producer Denise Rehrig has been announced as the new executive producer of ABC News Live’s “Prime with Linsey Davis” by ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic. She will report into Seni Tienabeso, vice president of ABC News Live and Specialized Units.
Rehrig will oversee all aspects of the Emmy-nominated streaming evening newscast, from overall editorial direction to story development and day-to-day production. Under her vision and in collaboration with Davis and Tienabeso, “Prime” will continue to produce timely, accurate and engaging journalism while providing viewers with the context and analysis of the day’s biggest stories.
“With a proven track record of editorial excellence and deep cross-platform experience, I’m thrilled to welcome Denise Rehrig back to ABC News in her new role,” said Karamehmedovic. “I trust her leadership will propel the show to new heights, delivering compelling journalism that meets the moment every night.”
“I’m honored to join ‘Prime with Linsey Davis’ in this role and to return to ABC News—an especially meaningful place to me,” said Rehrig. “Linsey’s clear, compelling voice paired with the program’s smart and substantive journalism is an incredible combination. I look forward to building on that foundation, bringing sharp storytelling, meaningful context, and a strong sense of urgency to viewers every evening.”
Rehrig joins the program with 20 years of news and talk show production experience. She returns to ABC News following her time as a senior broadcast producer at “Good Morning America,” during the pivotal time when the show first surpassed the “Today” show as the No. 1 morning show in America. Rehrig was part of the leadership team that earned the show three Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Morning Program. From breaking news to major national and global events, she has covered everything, from the Boston marathon bombing and the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight 370 to the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections and the papal conclave electing Pope Francis.
“Denise is an incredible live TV producer and a wonderful storyteller who has a deep understanding of the new media landscape,” said Tienabeso. “Her sharp instincts and collaborative spirit will be a powerful asset to ‘Prime,’ and I’m so excited for her return to ABC News to lead the most honored team in streaming news.”
Prior to this role, Rehrig was the co-executive producer of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” leading the show to a Primetime Emmy win in 2021 for their election night special, “Stephen Colbert’s Election Night 2020: Democracy’s Last Stand Building Back America Great Again Better.” Under her leadership, the team also won a Peabody Award in 2020. In addition to the studio show, she led high-profile live broadcasts, including political conventions and post-Super Bowl specials, and transformed the show’s digital presence by revamping the social media strategy, doubling the Instagram following and gaining 2 million+ TikTok followers. In 2024, Rehrig most recently produced Amazon Prime’s “Election Night Live with Brian Williams.”
Rehrig began her career at CNBC producing financial and political programs, including “Squawk on the Street” and “Fast Money.” She is a graduate of the Mizzou School of Journalism.
