Rob Carter

After studying Maths at Cambridge, Rob Carter decided he wasn't really cut out for a career in banking, instead taking the plunge to train as an actor at LAMDA drama school. He reflects on his time at Cambridge as useful though, giving him inspiration to later create a character who "loves the sound of his own voice but doesn't have a clue what he's talking about, because I don't really know what I am talking about."

After graduating from LAMDA, Rob took on a number of comedy cameos in popular TV shows such as Fresh Meat,  and Peep Show for Channel 4 and Siblings for BBC Three. The charm in Rob's early  Flight Of The Conchords style guitar-strumming comedy set showed huge potential, winning him the 2011 Chortle Student Comedian of the Year Award.

The following year Rob entered and won the annual  Musical Comedy Awards, a highly regarded independent platform that celebrates the art-form. In 2013 Rob made his first pilgrimage to the Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe with his show, MURDER (AND OTHER HOBBIES) as a polite ex-prefect and wannabe, punk using an acoustic guitar to send up his nice guy persona. Perhaps here was the embryonic form of his alter ego, and 3 years later his debut character show was born – ROB CARTER IS CHRISTOPHER BLISS. In 2017 this was followed by a successful second outing in, CHRISTOPHER BLISS – WRITING WRONGS.

Taking his Fringe character to another level, Rob believes the best imaginary characters are those who the audience can believe really do exist, and Christopher Bliss's Twitter and Facebook persona has now garnered a loyal following. Fans can also interact with the character on a regular basis too on the first Friday of every month at the Camden Comedy Club, where the character runs a the hilarious Literary Salon, which Christopher modestly claims is an opportunity to "pass on my wisdom to aspiring novelists".
