John Candy

Born in Toronto, Ontario, John Candy was one of Canada's greatest and funniest character actors, also well known for his size, 6-foot-3-inch and at times weighing in over 275 pounds. He made his television debut in a 1971 episode of Police Surgeon, however it was becoming a part of the Second City comedy group in 1972, writing and performing comic skits, that his talents began to shine.

John Candy died in his sleep at age 43 of a heart attack while filming in Mexico. Canadian Bacon was released a year after his death.
