Ed Devereaux

Born in Sydney, Ed Devereaux (1925-2003) became a firm-but-friendly face to children worldwide when cast as park ranger Matt Hammond, custodian of the titular bush kangaroo in the 1968-70 series Skippy, some episodes of which he wrote and/or directed. Resident in the UK from 1950, he appeared in several of the early Carry On films plus such TV favorites as Paul Temple, The Main Chance, The Sweeney, and The Professionals. He also played Martin Bormann opposite Frank Finlay's Führer in the LWT drama The Death of Adolf Hitler (1972). In 1989, he appeared in an Australian-set episode of the 7 Network's revival of The Saint.
