Robert Beatty

Robert Beatty grew up in Canada and got his start with the Hamilton Players' Guild before moving to England in 1936. He achieved international fame through his eyewitness radio reports of the nightly bombing of London during the Blitz for the BBC's Overseas News Service. His notable acting credits include San Demetrio London, Odd Man Out, The Square Ring, 2001: A Space Odyssey and also Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Beatty provided the voice for the fictional Irish detective Philip Odell on BBC radio. 

Robert Beatty was 82 when he died of pneumonia in London, England.
