Born in Goessel, Kansas, Shirley Knight showed multiple talents at an early age. By the age of eight she sang with an orchestra on radio, placed 2nd in a state-wide talent show, and at fourteen she had a short story published in a national magazine. She attended Phillips University and Wichita State University, and studied at Pasadena Theatre School. Early credits include an uncredited role in the 1955 film Picnic, and guest appearances in a variety of popular television series, beginning with Matinee Theatre in 1957.
Shirley Knight passed away at the age of 83 of natural causes.
