Danica Roem

Danica Roem was born and raised in Manassas, Virginia. She attended St. Bonaventure University in New York, where she majored in journalism. Roem worked for nine years as the lead reporter for the Gainesville Times and Prince William Times.

In 2017 Roem was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates becoming the first openly transgender person to be elected to the Virginia General Assembly, and in January 2018 became the first to both be elected and serve while openly transgender in any U.S. state legislature.
