Leah Lagos

Leah Lagos, Doctor of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D), Board Certified in Biofeedback (B.C.B), specializes in biofeedback, sport psychology, and psychotherapy. Building on international research in the fields of health and wellness, Dr. Lagos assesses and treats a broad range of disorders and performance challenges. Her expertise includes strategies to reduce anxiety, boost resilience to adversity, and enhance health. She is adept at helping her clients clarify their needs, achieve their goals, and increase their effectiveness.

Dr. Lagos maintains that the heart is the pathway to emotional control. For more than eight years, Dr. Lagos has consulted, taught, conducted research, lectured, and developed programs to help individuals of all ages reduce their anxiety and improve performance through biofeedback. She is the principal author of "Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback: A Strategy to Manage Competitive Anxiety," which was published in Biofeedback Magazine by the Association of Applied and Physiology and Biofeedback (AAPB) in 2008. Dr. Lagos is also the lead author of "Virtual Reality Assisted Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback: A Strategy to Enhance Golf Performance," which was published in AAPB's Biofeedback Magazine in the summer of 2011.

Unique to the field of sport psychology, Dr. Lagos has consulted amateur and professional golfers of all ages. Dr. Lagos has also conducted risk assessments for draft prospects of the Chicago Bears and The New York Giants at the NFL Combine since 2007, as part of Professional Sport Consultants, Inc. She has worked with multiple types of collegiate teams across the United States including track, rowing, basketball, football, and golf. She has also designed and implemented substance abuse prevention programs with more than 25 teams at Rutgers University and developed a disordered eating prevention team to coordinate care of student-athletes at the University of Miami. Additionally, Dr. Lagos has consulted with professional basketball players and their families on issues related to career development for the National Basketball Association (NBA).

As a consulting psychological expert for the media, Dr. Lagos has been featured in numerous media outlets. Dr. Lagos and her work have appeared on The Today Show, NBC Nightly News, MSNBC, Good Day New York Television, WPIX 11 News, Inside Edition, CNN News, CBS News, Fox News, and ESPN. She has been interviewed by multiple publications including the New York Times, Golf Digest, Sports Illustrated, Harper's Bazaar, Self, Shape, Bloomberg News, Psychology Today, the LA Times, the Pittsburgh Tribune, the New York Daily, and AM New York. She has appeared on more than thirty radio shows across the United States such as the Doctor's Radio Show on Sirius XM and the WFAN (CBS radio).

Dr. Lagos is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of New York and Board Certified in Biofeedback. She is an active member of the American Psychological Association, Association for Applied Sport Psychology, Association of Applied Psychophysiology & Biofeedback, as well as the Biofeedback Foundation of Europe. Dr. Lagos is the Co-Chair of the Optimal Performance Section of the Association For Applied Sport Psychology and a Guest Editor for Biofeedback Magazine.
