Marlon Brando

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Marlon Brando was a difficult child, excelling at sports and drama, but failing every other subject, he was expelled from a number of schools, and went into the workforce, taking on his first job, that of a ditch digger. Financially backed by his father, he moved to New York where he studied at the Actors' Studio. His six decade career began on stage, where he established himself as a charismatic performer in the play A Streetcar Named Desire. Turning his attention to the silver screen in 1950, he debuted in The Men, followed by the role of Stanley Kowalski in the film adaptation of A Streetcar Named Desire.

Marlon Brando died of pulmonary fibrosis at age 80.
