Sasha Joelle Achilli is an Emmy and BAFTA award-winning documentary filmmaker specialising in international current affairs. She has spent her career getting at the heart of difficult stories in some of the most remote parts of Africa and the Middle East. During the last eight years, she has investigated war crimes in Syria, produced films such as Outbreak -about the Ebola crisis in West Africa, investigated the Kenyan Westgate Mall terrorist attack for HBO documentary Terror at the Mall gaining exclusive access to the CCTV footage and victims of the attack. More recently, she directed a BBC film about the honour killing of a British-Pakistani woman and has worked undercover in Iran. With every film, she tries to transcend cultural barriers making documentaries that are accessible to a broader audience.
