Ali Hamedani

Ali Hamedani is a BBC World service reporter. He is the first Iranian journalist who investigated and covered the underground life of Iranian LGBT when he was working from inside Iran for the BBC World Service Trust Iran Media Project. He continued covering the issue by making several reports and TV documentaries. Within the BBC, he produced and presented different programs and launched and restructured language services radio stations, including the BBC Afghan stream and the BBC Arabic radio. He was involved in the BBC World Service radio "trend shifting" from Shortwave radio to digital to target young listeners. He has produced and directed several TV documentaries, including "Countdown to Revolution" about the Islamic revolution in Iran, "Iran sex change solution" about the Islamic regime of Iran's harsh attitude towards the LGBTI community, and "Gardeners of Kabul."  

In a joint project with BBC Media Action and UNICEF, he was involved in training and launching local radio stations in Afghanistan. He designed and structured behaviour changing projects and multimedia series for Afghanistan funded local stations in troubled tribal areas. 

Now he presents BBC Persian service morning show to Iran and Afghanistan.
