Japanese Breakfast is an alternative pop band headed by Korean-American musician Michelle Zauner. She started the band as a side project in 2013 while leading the Philadelphia-based emo group Little Big League. Zauner said she named the band after seeing a GIF of Japanese breakfast and decided Americans would consider the term "exotic," wondering what a Japanese breakfast includes.
