Born in Fulmer, England, Michael York began working on stage with the National Youth Theater, received his BA from Oxford University, then joined the National Theatre Company in London. Early film and television appearances beginning in 1967 include Accident, Liefdebekenstenissen, The Taming of the Shrew, Smashing Time and The Forsyte Saga.
