Jana Gillis

Jana Gillis is a Canadian director, actor, producer, and writer, in film, television & theatre.

She's been telling stories for as long as she can remember and grew up writing and performing plays in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

After earning a BFA in Theatre Acting from Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland in Corner Brook she wrote her first screenplay, Must Be a Zombie Apocalypse (2012) for the St. John's International Women's Film Festival's inaugural FRAMED West program. Premiering at SJIWFF, the short comedy also screened at the Halifax Independent Film Festival in 2013 & various Sci-Fi Conventions in Atlantic Canada - AtlantiCon (Corner Brook, NL), SciFi on the Rock (St. John's, NL), HalCon (Halifax, NS) & CaperCON (Sydney, NS).

Her second short Up Close & Personal (2016) premiered at the Atlantic Film Festival (now FIN) in 2016, the same year Malignant (2018), a short film she starred in, premiered at that same festival.
