Philippe Martinez is a French film producer, screenwriter, director, and actor.
Martinez is a graduate of the National Academy of Dramatic Art in Marseille. From 1988 through 1990, he was President of the famous Odeon Theater (Théâtre de l'Odéon) in Marseilles, one of the largest playhouses in Europe. At the end of 1990, at the age of 22, he decided to focus on a career as a feature film producer, moved to the United States, and became Chairman of the Board of Ulysses Entertainment. From 1996-1999 he headed Los Angeles-based Betar Entertainment and served as executive producer on Ultimate Weapon and In Her Defense. In 1999, Martinez launched Bauer-Martinez Studios. He has produced over 40 films including Modigliani, The Piano Player, The Defender, Out of Season, Dot.Kill, House of 9, Land of the Blind, The Groomsmen, I Could Never Be Your Woman, The Flock, and Attrition. Films he directed include Citizen Verdict, Wake of Death, The Steam Experiment (AKA The Chaos Experiment), Viktor, General Commander, and Mister Mayfair.
