Ren Watabe (born 6 March 1999) is a Japanese actor. He is the son of prominent Japanese actor Atsuro Watabe and actress/businesswoman Rikako Murakami. He has a brother, Mikiya Watabe, who is a screenwriter. Before his major breakthrough, Watabe worked as a line cook in Japan while auditioning for roles. Casting director Ronna Kress (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters) selected him after a worldwide search, specifically seeking an actor who felt authentic in a Japanese setting while possessing the Englis fluency required for the international production.
