Emily Somers was an American, actress, model, writer, and producer. She was born in San Francisco and grew up in the Bay Area. Beginning her experience on the stage as a ballerina, Somers transitioned from studying dance to focusing on theater and singing, performing in various productions around the city.
She attended the American Conservatory Theater's Summer Training Congress in San Francisco and the British American Drama Academy's Midsummer in Oxford program at the University of Oxford to supplement her training at the University of California, Davis, where she graduated with honors in Dramatic Art and highest honors in American Studies.
After graduation, Somers moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television. She was the lead in the popular indie thriller Reboot (2012), worked with Gerard Butler as Dawn in Gabriele Muccino's film Playing for Keeps (2012), appeared in Netflix's Sandy Wexler (2017), and starred opposite Jean Smart in the horror/thriller feature Awaken the Shadowman (2012). Somers was also nominated for Best Actress in a Short Film at the Madrid International Film Festival for her role in Soulmate (2013). Additionally, she appeared in a multi-spot national Subaru campaign and a national commercial for HBO GO, along with multiple national VO spots for Pacific Life and OurTime.com.
Emily died from a rare form of cancer known as NUT midline carcinoma.
