Urvi Majumdar is a Melbourne comedian on the rise, even though she'd probably make some absurd, self-deprecating joke if you mentioned it.
Having moved from India to Australia at the age of 6, Urvi has always juggled two worlds - living up to her parent's expectations (or trying to!) whilst still trying to appear cool at all times. Urvi's experiences add a unique flavour to her observational comedy.
Balancing her dark wit and sarcasm with a contagious excitability, Urvi's comedy values quality and connectedness above all. Her favourite drink is a pet nat and that's how she sees her comedy - if you haven't tried it, go get yourself a glass!
Urvi's strength in stand-up has led to many other writing and performing opportunities on screen. She was a writer for The Project, in the writer's rooms for Screen Australia funded projects Emu War and Swamped, and has played Gwen Albright in two seasons of comedy series Metrosexual.
In 2022 Urvi was a guest in the critically acclaimed ABC show FISK and also on SBS's Celebrity Letters and Numbers. Currently Urvi writes for The Weekly with Charlie Pickering and performs stand-up regularly in the best comedy rooms in Melbourne.
