Kike Maíllo is a Spanish director, writer, producer, and actor. He was born in Barcelona, Catalonia on June 3, 1975. In 1994 he began his film studies at the ESCAC (Catalonia Film and Audiovisual School). In 2000, he started his career as a filmmaker in the field of advertising, where he directed several music videos and made short films for various cultural institutions. He combined his professional work with teaching, giving classes on scriptwriting and film direction in the ESCAC. With his second short film, Los perros de Pavlov (2003), he obtained a dozen awards in various film festivals. In 2009 he directed the adult cartoon series entitled Arròs covat. In 2011 he released Eva, his first feature film: a science fiction story which won him the Goya award for best new director.
