Michael Wright serves as head of MGM+ (formerly Epix) Since he joined MGM+ in 2017, he and his team have dramatically expanded distribution, brought the network into the OTT space with the MGM+ app, tripled the amount of original programming, and more than doubled subscribers. Under Wright's leadership, MGM+ has become a reliable destination for premium original series, most recently with the Emmy-winning series Godfather of Harlem starring Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker; sci-fi horror series From; the Western adventure Billy the Kid; and the cinematic dramatic series War of the Worlds, Rogue Heroes, and Belgravia. Coming this spring is the highly anticipated spy thriller A Spy Among Friends starring Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce. Wright has also enjoyed great success with acclaimed docuseries, including Emmy-nominated Laurel Canyon, Helter Skelter, Slow Burn, My Life as a Rolling Stone, NFL Icons, Women Who Rock, and Blumhouse's Compendium of Horror.
Prior to joining MGM+, Wright was the CEO of Steven Spielberg's Amblin Partners, where he oversaw the release of such films as A Dog's Purpose, Ready Player One, The Post, and The House with a Clock in its Walls. Before Amblin, he was President of TBS, TNT, and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). During his tenure at Turner, he led TNT and TBS to the top of the cable charts for 10 straight years, programming some of the biggest hits on cable television including the The Closer, Falling Skies, Into the West, and Men of a Certain Age for TNT, and Conan, My Boys, and Angie Tribeca for TBS. For TCM, Wright oversaw the production of the Emmy nominated documentary Moguls and Movie Stars: The History of Hollywood, the acclaimed TCM: A Night at the Movies franchise, and the Emmy winning AFI: Lifetime Achievement Award specials.
Wright is part of the Television Academy Foundation, the Executive Board of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, and is on the Board of Governors for The Paley Center.
