Willie Mays

Born in Westfield, Alabama, Willie Mays, regarded as one of the greatest baseball players of all time, began his career in 1948 in the Negro leagues, playing for the Birmingham Black Barons, and spent the rest of his career in the National League, playing for the New York/San Francisco Giants and New York Mets, retiring after the 1973 season. He made many appearances in television series, the first credits include a 1964 episode of The Donna Reed Show, followed by a 1966 episode of Bewitched.

Willie Mays died of heart failure at a care home at the age of 93.
