Cole Sturgis is an American personality and a cast member of the show, Life Below Zero. He calls himself the Bush pilot and is a native of Thorne Bay, Alaska. Despite this, he got a license for practicing pilot skills when he was only 18 years old. After that, he bought his plane, and the plane was called a Piper PA-18 SuperCub when he was 20 years old.
He uses his plane to help people in transferring from one place to another around Prince of Wales Island and other parts of Alaska. He also uses his private plane for hunting and fishing trips with his family and friends.
Early Life
Cole Sturgis was born on 17th April 2000 and was brought up in Thorne Bay, Alaska into a family of fishermen and loggers who used to live in Southeast Alaska for generations. While growing up, Sturgis learned how to hunt, fish, and trap animals and sea animals. Cole went to Thorne Bay School, the public school that serves classes up to K-12.
He received his graduation in 2018 and was only among the 12 students when he graduated from school. He got romantically linked with his high school sweetheart named Jessica and shortly after graduation, they gave birth to a daughter, Lily in 2019. Cole has always dreamed of becoming a bush pilot and flying around the place since he was a kid.
Life Below Zero
Cole is one of the cast members of the show, Life Below Zero, season 21. He is friendly with Ricko DeWilde, another cast member who is also residing or a native of the Alaskan Interior. Cole is a native of Thorne Bay, Alaska, the place that is located on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska.
He is said to be living in the last remaining float houses in Alaska– the house that floats on water and is anchored to the shore. The plane he has, he used that plane to travel around the places of islands and to go to work and subsistence. Cole faces many challenges such as harsh weather, isolation, predators, and limited resources in his hometown.
Sometimes, he also faces family challenges as he has to struggle with situations like his wife Jessica, who always wishes to have a bigger house in the town. But, Cole wishes and wants to stay in Thorne Bay and also wants to make his family happy. It is this, he is trying to have a balance for his work, family, personal and professional life.
