Robin Thede is an American comedy writer, sketch/improvisational comedian, and actress born in Spencer, Iowa, USA. She worked as an entertainment correspondent, host, and radio personality. She became head writer and correspondent for The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore in 2015 and was the head writer for the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2016, making her the first African-American woman head writer in late-night history and for the WHCD. Thede created, executive produced, and hosted The Rundown with Robin Thede on BET from 2017 to 2018. She is the creator, executive producer, and star of the Emmy-nominated HBO series A Black Lady Sketch Show. Thede was named one of Variety's Top Ten Comics to Watch in 2019.
