Qi Shu

Shu Qi, born Lin Li-hui on April 16, 1976, in Taiwan, is a prominent Hong Kong-Taiwanese actress, model, and filmmaker. She moved to Hong Kong at 17 to start her career, initially in softcore modeling and Category III films like Sex & Zen II (1996). Her breakthrough came with Viva Erotica (1996), winning Best Supporting Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards.

Transitioning to mainstream cinema, she starred in films such as Portland Street Blues (1998), Gorgeous (1999), and Millennium Mambo (2001). Key collaborations with Hou Hsiao-hsien include Three Times (2005), earning her a Golden Horse Award for Best Actress, and The Assassin (2015), which won her Best Actress at the Asian Film Awards. Internationally, she debuted in The Transporter (2002) and appeared in hits like If You Are the One (2008), Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons (2013), and Mojin: The Lost Legend (2015).

She made her directorial debut with Girl (2025), shortlisted for the Golden Lion at Venice, and has served on juries at major film festivals like Berlin (2008), Cannes (2009), and Venice (2023). In 2024, she joined the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Shu has been a brand ambassador for luxury labels including Bulgari, Michael Kors, and Estée Lauder.

Personally, she dated Leon Lai from 1997 to 2004 and married actor-director Stephen Fung in 2016.
