Born in Tallahassee, Florida, Brad Davis is best known for his role as Billy Hayes in the film Midnight Express, winning two Golden Globes. Due to drug and alcohol abuse his career was sporadic, with other notable roles in the mini-series Roots, a minor role in Chariots of Fire and a memorable role as the title character of Querelle in 1982.
Contracting AIDS in 1979, he kept his illness secret for a number of years, becoming an AIDS activist in the late 1980s. He ended his life on his own terms at the age of 41.
