Born in Levittown, Long Island, New York, Barbara Crampton grew up in Vermont, and spent summers traveling the country with her carny father. She attended Castleton State College, graduating with a BA in Theater Arts. In 1983 she made her television debut as Trista Evans Bradford in the daytime drama Days of Our Lives, and the following year she landed a small role in the film Body Double.
