Born in Waxahachie, Texas, Frederic Forrest made his film debut in the 1968 The Filthy Five. In 1972 he was nominated for a Golden Globe as Most Promising Newcomer in the film When the Legends Die, and in 1979 he held roles in two prominent films, Apocalypse Now as 'Chef' Hicks, and Houston Dyer in The Rose.
