Born and raised in Pocahontas, Illinois, Gretchen Frances Wilson moved to Nashville in 1996 and got a job at a bar in Printers Alley slinging drinks and singing with the house band. It was here that she was noticed by Big Kenny and John Rich. They introduced her to their circle of friends where she honed her songwriting skills. Her debut single, Redneck Woman hit No.1 on Billboard's country airplay chart in 2004, and her debut album, Here for the Party sold nearly five million copies. As a result she won the CMA Horizon Award in 2004.
