Diego Luna is a Mexican actor, director and producer, born on December 29, 1979, in Toluca and raised in Mexico City. The son of a set designer and British costume designer, he grew up around theater and began acting as a child. After years on Mexican television, Luna gained international recognition opposite childhood friend Gael García Bernal in Alfonso Cuarón's Y Tu Mamá También. He later appeared in Frida, The Terminal, Milk and Narcos: Mexico, while directing Abel, César Chávez and Mr. Pig. Luna gained global fame as rebel spy Cassian Andor in Rogue One, then returned as star and executive producer of Andor. His grounded portrayal of an ordinary man becoming a revolutionary earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Beyond acting, Luna and García Bernal cofounded the Ambulante documentary festival and production companies dedicated to Mexican stories, social debate and greater Latino representation.
