Born in East Chicago, Indiana, Betsy Palmer perfomed in school plays all through her childhood, attended East Chicago Business college, and worked as a stenographer and secretary for the B&O Railroad while taking night classes at the Goodman School of Drama Art Institute of Chicago. She appeared in numerous TV shows beginning in the early 1950s Golden Age of Television. Among them were such classic dramas such as Kraft Theatre, Playhouse 90 and Studio One. In 1955 she began her film career, appearing in The Long Gray Line, Death Tide and Mister Roberts.
Betsy Palmer died of natural causes at age 88.
