Just Trying to Be Me Recap

The Tough as Nails episode "Just Trying to be Me", which aired on Sunday, July 16th opens on Dirty Hands driving to the team challenge, and Cheryl indicates to her team that her leg injury means that she won't be able to run as fast. The team rallies behind her and promises that they will pick up the slack. The team challenge involves both teams running into a store, locating items, checking out, and then loading the items into a truck. Both teams were even, but Savage Crew made some critical errors while shopping, so Dirty Hands was able to pull ahead and cinch the win. The next day, it was the individual challenge where the contestants had to pair up in teams of two, load a truck up with supplies, and then drive a course without losing too many supplies. Ben and Paul won the challenge and $6,000 total, while Dusty and Kenji and Akeela and Cheryl had to do a battle back round to see who would be victorious. Dusty and Kenji were able to beat out Akeela and Cheryl, so Akeela and Cheryl were both forced into overtime. Before the challenge, Phil Keoghan asked Cheryl if she would be able to do the challenge, since she had a muscle strain in her leg, and Cheryl said that she wanted to at least try. The overtime challenge involved both contestants filling two buckets up with concrete, and then having to lug those buckets over an obstacle course to fill it up in a tube at the other end. Due to her injury, Cheryl was not able to work as fast as Akeela, and consequently lost and had to punch out of the individual competition.
